It has been a great summer....2016 already....2 years since we last posted on this blog site, sorry folks. The site has been getting lots of regular visitors. There must be other Aloha owners out there like me who love to read about their favorite boats. 2016 was a great year for us. Debbie and I spent more time on Windover than ever before. We did not venture terribly far afield but got her out regularly. I think 5 trips to Main Duck in all. A fair bit of exploring from our mooring base at Prinyers Cove and lots of short weekend hops around the Bay of Quinte. Some of our best memories involved sailing with friends both new and old.
Windover got a bit of attention this year again. In an effort to completely restore her we moved on to replacing/repairing the eyebrows on the cabin top. This was completed in the water this past spring. We also re-varnished the cockpit woodwork. The really big job was replacing the floor ply. The new stuff is in and it looks perfect....well, I know it is not but close enough.
During the summer we had re-occurring charging issues. I had the alternator out and back in and am looking at doing it all again this fall. It seems I am not getting a charge to my system from the alternator, only shore power, yet when I had the Alt tested it worked perfectly. This is a real hassle if you are on a mooring for two months. We have to deal with this issue before the spring or risk cooking another set of batteries.
Major purchases this year where a new dinghy (thank you Rene and Angela) and .......thats all we bought????? Hard to believe, the spending spree is over. Time to settle in and enjoy her.
We hope you all have a great fall and Winter. Launch day 2017 is just around the corner.
